The Association for Research and Innovation, FIVE, at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg offers university research staff the opportunity and organisational framework to implement cutting-edge practice-oriented, empirical research projects. Over more than 30 years and through its comprehensive research achievements, FIVE has developed into the largest research institution associated with a University of Applied Sciences in the social field.
The research projects are third-party funded and there is a wide range of funding and awarding possibilities by foundations and research grants as well as state and federal ministries, the European Commission, umbrella associations of pension funds, health insurance and public health funds, but also by municipalities and other providers and institutions.
Under the roof of FIVE, five institutes are led by professors from the University of Applied Sciences Freiburg: AGP, itb, SoFFI F, ZfkJ and zze. Research reports are published with the affiliated FEL publishing house.
FIVE e. V. is an independent and incorporated, non-profit association and structurally interlinked with the EH Freiburg. At the university, FIVE e. V. serves as an institute for advanced research. Non-academic research and other academic services are performed by the separate institution of FIVE GmbH.
Das Institut für angewandte Sozialforschung bildet seit 1999 eine eigenständige Einheit im Forschungsverbund der Evangelischen Hochschule Freiburg.
Das Institut bietet theoretische und empirische Forschung in den Bereichen Praktische Theologie und Beratungswissenschaften.

Das Sozialwissenschaftliche FrauenForschungsInstitut an der Evangelischen Hochschule Freiburg steht seit der Gründung 1996 in der Tradition der empirischen Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung.
Unter dem Dach des Zentrums für Kinder- und Jugendforschung werden seit Mai 2004 alle Forschungsaktivitäten und Evaluationsprojekte im Bereich der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe zusammengeführt.
Das zze ist das Kompetenzzentrum für Bürgerschaftliches Engagement, Good Governance und unternehmerische Verantwortung.
Seit Ende der 1980er Jahre veröffentlicht der Forschungsverbund an der Evangelischen Hochschule Freiburg Forschungs- und Projektberichte im Eigenverlag.
